WHAT IS AN ENCOUNTER? An Encounter is a 3-day weekend that individuals set aside to go away from home for the purpose of meeting face-to-face with God. In both the Old and New Testaments, the Bible shows men and women experiencing great, life changing encounters with the living God. An Encounter Retreat is a weekend short course in freedom (freedom from habits, bondages, bitterness, wrong thoughts, and past mistakes). At the Encounter, the Lord will set you free through the power of the Cross. Each Encounter is led by a leader of the church, Men and Women attend gender-specific Encounters. Youth Encounters are not gender-specific
WHERE IS THE LOCATION AND WHAT IS THE COST? The cost of the encounter may vary depending on the facility and accommodations used. The facility may be out of town usually no more than 60-70 miles away or may be held at the church using nearby hotel accommodations. The adult encounter retreats range from $125-$175 per person, which includes two nights of lodging and five meals. The youth encounters are usually less because they are held in camps
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE OF THE ENCOUNTER? You provide your own transportation or car pool and are expected to arrive between 4-5:30 p.m. Friday evening for registration and room assignments. There will be sessions and activities that evening, throughout Saturday, and until 12 noon on Sunday. You will then return to RIC for a welcome home reception with your family and friends, which is an exciting, high-energy finale to the Retreat. Youth transportation is provided using vans.
HOW DO I PREPARE TO ATTEND? 1. Register in the church lobby after an Encounter is announced. 2. By regularly attending a Life Group. (Your Life group leader can assist you in the registration process.) 3. By attending a Pre-Encounter course for two sessions. The pre-encounter will help you in preparing to receive the maximum value for your weekend investment.
